I finally created my first Animoto video! For my first attempt, I thought I'd create something simple that I can use multiple times throughout the year as well as from year to year.
I am going to be doing book groups this year rather than whole class novels. I'd like my students to be able to choose books that they are interested in to encourage more reading. I created a visual list of my bookshelf for my students to view in the beginning stages of choosing a book to read. I thought it was less overwhelming/more fun than walking up to the bookshelf!
Lori, That was a great way to use Animoto to feature your books. You will have to let me know if this is more motivating to them. Great idea!
ReplyDeleteI like this idea too Lori! It's like a video preview of your book selection. Your kids will love this!
ReplyDeleteI love your Animoto! It's definitely a cool way to preview the books and get them interested in wanting to see what else! I'd be interested to hear what your students have to say about it. I might borrow this idea and create one for my students to introduce book bins!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea!!! It is such a great way to give the class a preview of the books you have to offer! I would like to try something similar when we introduce our book club choices in the spring. Usually my co-teacher and I stand at the front of the room and give a quick book talk about each book, but by that time of the year the kids are usually tired of listening to us talk. An Animoto would be such a creative way to introduce each book with a little blurb after each cover image. Thank you for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea! Such an innovative way to get students motivated to pick a book from the bookshelf and read. The music also makes the virtual bookshelf feel like reading is a party! :) Very creative, Lori!
ReplyDeleteFantastic! Students can watch the video more than once, and see the titles and genres again. Maybe they will be motivated to do book trailers, using Animoto, or another tool, to get their peers reading recommended books. I just watched some great trailers done by 5th graders. One was for Number the Stars, which is included in your book shelf. The selection of books is varied, and some of the books are challenging. However, given the range, there is something for everyone.
ReplyDeleteHi Lori! Very nice job!! I like how you used the book covers. It provides the students a preview of some of the books that are available. I can see using this in my classroom in the beginning of the year to peak interest in our classroom library. Your idea can also be used to showcase books for different topics like social issues, historical fiction, etc. Thanks for sharing!
