About Me

I walked into the Student Support Center in the late fall of last school year.  I was given little direction as to what to expect on a daily basis, what was already in place for the group, or what direction to go in.  I was lucky enough to have started on a 2.5 day week to get acquainted with my new students, but upon returning from the holiday, I hit the ground running.

Throughout the year, I had tucked away thoughts and ideas for my first full school year.  Changes that would be difficult to nearly impossible to make midyear with students that did not fully connect with me as their new teacher.  One week down, and the Support Center is feeling like mine.

I have learned what will work/not work for my students given the culture of my building in terms of rewards, breaks, resources, and structure.  I spent countless hours in my classroom over the summer to give the room a facelift to make it feel like a more comforting place for my students.  With many new additions, there is plenty of room for creating a positive learning environment for students struggling with significant emotional difficulties.
